Amazing Uses for Lemon Essential Oil

Last week I explained a little bit about Lemon, Lemon Essential Oil and PH. This week I want to show you a few ways to incorporate the Lemon Essential Oil into your life easily. I have several cool and easy ways to use the Lemon EO for your personal health, as well as nifty uses in your home.

For Your Health

Allergies and runny noses can be more than incredibly annoying but try mixing one or two drops of lemon essential oil with a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil or sweet almond oil in the palm of your hand. Then with this combination, take your finger and dip it in the oil(s) and place a swipe of the mixture down the side of each nostril to help stop the runny nose. Use this same mixture to help with seasonal discomfort by putting it behind your ears and directly under your nose 3 or 4 times a day. You can also rub it onto the bottoms of your feet for an added boost.

Toothbrushes and bad breath both need some attention and lemon essential oil can give them both a little disinfecting! If you put 5 drops of lemon essential oil in 5 ounces of warm water(I like mine warmer than warm but not quite hot), add 1 teaspoon of baking soda, mix and swish/gargle it around in your mouth vigorously for 60 seconds, this will help rinse away the food and bacteria that builds in your mouth causing the bad breath while aiding with PH.(If bad breath continues despite good oral care, consult a medical professional). Now, save back some of the unused water mixture for cleaning your toothbrush. Add 1 drop of the lemon EO to your toothbrush then swiftly swish it around in the water you have leftover to sanitize.

For Your Home

Grease and grime are a pain to begin with but you can make clean-up a little easier with a few drops of lemon essential oil. The lemon EO can help remove grease from your hands, help take off the sticky glue residue left behind from labels/stickers and aid in the removal of permanent marker.

Sanitizing toilet bowls naturally can be done when using lemon essential oil and baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda into the toilet (I use about ½ cup) and then add 4-5 drops of lemon EO. Use your toilet brush like normal remembering to get up under the rim where the germs like to hang out. Flush and repeat if necessary.

These are just a few of the many ways you can incorporate Lemon Essential Oils into your life, leaving the chemicals behind. My family has included lemon EO into our daily lives for more than 2 years to uplift our moods, help balance our PH, and even tickle our taste buds with the food and treats you can add lemon to. I look forward to hearing some of your innovative ways to add lemon essential oil into your family’s life.
